Flights to and From Montenegro

The best airports to aim for are Podgorica and Tivat.

Ryanair fly from London Stansted to Podgorica (25 minutes from Lake Skadar).
Wizzair fly from London Gatwick and London Luton to Podgorica 4 times a week.
EasyJet fly from Manchester and London Gatwick to Tivat (1hr 10mins from Lake Skadar).
Jet2 fly from Manchester to Tivat from around.

British Airways, Norwegian and many others all fly direct to Dubrovnik in Croatia all year round. However, please note there are often long waiting times at the border between Croatia and Montenegro during the popular summer months.

Ryanair, EasyJet, Wizzair and other budget carriers all fly into Podgorica from various other European airports as well. Most national carriers offer direct flights into Dubrovnik.

Train to Montenegro

Getting to Montenegro by train is an easy way to reduce your carbon footprint. The train ride from Belgrade to Podgorica is one of the most dramatic in Europe, going over the mountains. The last part takes nine hours. If you were to take the train from London to Belgrade, you would leave around noon and get there early the next evening.

To travel by train from London to Podgorica in Montenegro, one of the main routes would be: London – Brussels (Belgium) – Cologne (Germany) – Budapest (Hungary) – Belgrade (Serbia) – Podgorica

Car to Montenegro

We advise travelling to the vibrant Dalmatian town of Split via Croatia if you’re travelling by car from Western Europe. From there, it’s easy to drive to Dubrovnik along the Adriatic coast, then on to the stunning Kotor fjord on the Montenegrin border, past the seaside resorts of Budva and Sveti Stefan, and finally, when you get to Petrovac, turn left on the mountain road towards Lake Skadar. After you leave Split, the entire trip shouldn’t take more than seven or eight hours, and you’ll have some amazing views.

Have a look at Michelin Maps for more precise directions.
